About the Role:

As a Java Frontend Engineer at Unisys, you will contribute to designing, developing, and enhancing software solutions that transform how clients interact with technology. You’ll be an active member of a collaborative team, engaging in technical discussions, solution design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a passion for building secure and scalable software systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize technical and procedural skills to support assigned application areas or discrete system elements.
• Participate as an active team member in developing, improving, and delivering software system components and features.
• Engage in design and development discussions, contributing ideas and technical insights to achieve desired outcomes.
• Assist with feature estimation in terms of technical requirements, resources, timeframes, and anticipated results.
• Create detailed plans for migrating legacy tools and systems to new or unified systems and languages.
• Develop and implement unit and system testing for critical code paths, ensuring adherence to secure coding standards.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and enhancement for both new and existing software features.
• Document processes, best practices, methodologies, and reusable solutions for future reference.
• Regularly update team members, managers, product owners, and stakeholders on progress, challenges, and solutions.
• Train and mentor junior team members to promote skills development and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in software development.
• Proficiency in Java and frontend engineering principles.
• Experience with software design discussions, coding standards, and best practices.
• Understanding of secure coding techniques.
• Ability to participate in feature estimation and planning.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to collaborate in a team environment and mentor junior engineers.
